The village Cala Figuera

The retreats will take place in Cala Figuera, Santanyí.
There are walking and cycling paths from the house along the coast and into the typical Mediterranean backlands with forests, flowers, olive, and fruit trees. The house is on the outer ring of the beautiful, natural, small fishing harbor.

Just one street down, you will see the ever changing light on the water and the typical Mallorquin white fishing boats, the llauts. You will also see the fishermen work on their nets and sell their catch every afternoon. There is a small boulevard with a cliff and sea view restaurants nearby.

Further down, you will find a few shops, a mini market, a cash machine, diving, kayak, and SUP and boat tours.

Parque Natural Mondrago

Just beyond the harbor start the lands of Parque Natural Mondrago, a large area with protected forest landscape, cliffs, and two stunning white beaches. You will see they resemble the Caribbean, with turquoise waters. You can walk through or cycle around the park.

In warm months, you may head out early to do yoga on the beach.

Santanyi

Nearby, at 8 min drive by car or 15 by bicycle, you find Santanyi, one of the bigger towns with more services, including a small hospital, post office, quite some galleries and nice shops, two big supermarkets, cafés, and restaurants. There is always something going on like weekly live music even in the winters months. There is a very nice food and local produce market on wednesdays and Saturdays. In summer nicely busy, in winter more for locals.

From Cala Figuera you can also visit wonderful places, including Coves de Drac, Cabrera Island, Randa Monastery, and Monasterio de San Salvador. There are also famous beaches where you can relax and take in the sun, including the famous Es Trenc Beach.

Accomodation

The Retreat House in Cala Figuera, Santanyí.
We offer accommodation as a service for people who do yoga and therapeutic sessions, we do not have other guests without program. We have 1 large double and 2 normal doubles, all with their own bathroom. You will have private use of a double room, unless you bring a friend or family member. We have 1 extra single room we only use for emergency last minutes. In our exotic garden and under the roof of the veranda you can relax on sunbeds or puffs, or take a hammock to where you want.

For the yoga classes we provide mats and meditation pillows. The yoga is with max 5 participants, outdoors when possible (sure April-October, mixed outdoor/indoor March, November, December, January). Also we created an outdoor therapy ‘office’ in the forest for most of the year.

We offer 3 bicycles (2 city- , a mountain- and a road bike) and an infra-red sauna for a donation fee.

We plan sessions as much as possible at the beginning and end of the day to provide everyone with possibility to explore the island and to relax outdoors. Per day a guest will mostly have 90min yoga plus one individual session. All timing is flexible and open to personal changes. In the warm months the morning program can be an hour earlier and from time to time on the beach.

Car rental or stay local?

It’s up to you to rent a car or use our pickup service from/to the airport. It is a 45minute drive from Palma to Cala Figuera (Santanyí). We will try to help you find your way on the island with maps and information.

There are walking and cycling paths from the house along the coast and into the typical Mediterranean back lands with forests, flowers, olive and fruit trees. Visits to a large sauna or excursions to further areas or evenings out are all possible and will be discussed together.

We will do what is in our hands to make your stay a pleasant one. We try to find a balance with every guest between connecting and private space for us and for you. You will have quite some time for yourself to rest. You could bring your own books, movies or music, or use our collection. We like to share what we have, so if you need a specific thing, tool, fire pot, paint, clay, do ask!

Majorca

Majorca has mountains, forest, sea, a nice international city, history, beautiful villages with markets and many ‘fiestas’. Hiking, climbing, sailing, scuba-diving, cycling, dining, strolling, sunbathing or lazing the day away are amongst the many things to do. Palma has a beautiful old center and an impressive marina. The mountains are rugged and have lots of old paths and caves. From an altitude of more than 1000 m you can look down into the sea. The interior has gently undulating scenery with lots of orchards and winding roads.

In spring and autumn temperatures are pleasantly mild. Summer can be very hot, especially in August. September and October are mostly warm and dry. The other name for autumn here is ‘spring of the winter’, as it feels like spring is in the air. After the long dry summer the first rains awaken all the greens in nature and the animals give birth and the farmers harvest. November can be very stormy, impressive to watch the sea roar. The end of December and January are called ‘las calmas de Enero’, usually a splendid winter period with little wind, beautiful skies and temperatures in the sun between 15 and 20 degrees Celsius.
