A description of our new all year round location

Our new retreat center is located just below the Spanish-French border towards the Costa Brava.  Our land is located along a small powerful, very pure river and we live between the menhirs, ritual stone formations 5000 BC. From gentle hillsides full of viticulture, cypresses and olives, we look at the sea, the Costa Brava on the one side and the ski resorts of Vallter2000 and Andorra on the other. Direct from home there are endless walks, mountainbike and road bike routes in amazing landscape.

The house Moli d’en Salom

The foundations are a medieval mill, hence an ancient dam wall, arches under the house and a lake / natural pool surrounded by 4000m2 of land with vegetable gardens, rose gardens, fruit trees and vines, and a sculpture garden with 13 large iron birds and horses. The house is approximately 350m2 in size and now, May’22 , the house has 2 living rooms, a dining room, a yoga room, a yoga terrace, a wood workshop, central heating, 3 bedrooms plus 3 bathrooms, (and will have after renovation: 2 more rooms with river view, a camper place and a sauna on the riverside.)

Figueres, Girona, Dali, North Costa Brava and the Pyrenees

The nearest beautiful coastline and Figueres are near within 20-30 minutes. Figueres has a lovely lively center and the famous Dali museum. Then the beautiful historic city of Girona, the volcanic Garrotxa with forrests and many waterfalls, and Perpignan and the Southern French coast are all within 45 minutes drive. Cadaques is a spectacular coastal town on Cap de Creus, and inspiration for Picasso and Dali and Miro.

We go to the beach for walks and yoga once or twice per week in summer to very beautiful quiet pebble and sandy bays.

There are options for horse riding and donkey walks nearby.

We live in the middle of nature, amidst beautiful historic villages with terraces and restaurants with French Spanish culinary delights everywhere, and every village has their own wines (DO Emporda) and olive oils.

Location Cala Figuera

Every year some pre-announced retreats will take place in Cala Figuera, Santanyí. This is our former -now extra- location for Mallorca lovers.

There are walking and cycling paths from the house along the coast and into the typical Mediterranean backlands with forests, flowers, olive, and fruit trees. The house is on the outer ring of the beautiful, natural, small fishing harbor.

Just one street down, you will see the ever changing light on the water and the typical Mallorquin white fishing boats, the llauts. You will also see the fishermen work on their nets and sell their catch every afternoon. There is a small boulevard with a cliff and sea view restaurants nearby.

Further down, you will find a few shops, a mini market, a cash machine, diving, kayak, and SUP and boat tours.

The Retreat House in Cala Figuera, Santanyí.

We have 1 large double and 2 normal doubles, all with their own bathroom. You will have private use of a double room, unless you bring a friend or family member. In our exotic garden and under the roof of the veranda you can relax on sunbeds or puffs, or take a hammock to where you want.

Parque Natural Mondrago

Just beyond the harbor start the lands of Parque Natural Mondrago, a large area with protected forest landscape, cliffs, and two stunning white beaches. You will see they resemble the Caribbean, with turquoise waters.

Santanyi

Nearby, at 8 min drive by car or 15 by bicycle, you find Santanyi, one of the bigger towns with more services, There is always something going on like weekly live music even in the winters months. There is a very nice food and local produce market on wednesdays and Saturdays. In summer nicely busy, in winter more for locals. From Cala Figuera you can also visit wonderful places, including Coves de Drac, Cabrera Island, Randa Monastery, and Monasterio de San Salvador. There are also famous beaches where you can relax and take in the sun, including the famous Es Trenc Beach.
