House & Surroundings
Location: Moli d’en Salom
A description of our all year round location:
Our retreat center is located just below the Spanish-French border towards the Costa Brava. Our land is located along a small powerful, very pure river and we live between the menhirs, ritual stone formations around 5500 years old . From gentle hillsides full of vineyards, cypresses and olives, we look at the sea, the Costa Brava on the one side and the ski resorts of Vallter2000 and Andorra on the other. Direct from home there are endless walks, mountainbike and road bike routes in amazing landscape.
The house Moli d’en Salom:
The foundations are a medieval mill, hence an ancient dam wall, arches under the house and a lake / natural pool surrounded by 4000m2 of land with vegetable gardens, fruit trees and vines, and a sculpture garden with 13 large iron birds and horses. The house is approximately 350m2 in size and has a living room, a dining room, a yoga room, a library, a yoga terrace, a wood workshop, central heating, 5 bedrooms plus 5 bathrooms, a mini river beach and a sauna.
We have spent a lot of time and attention to transforming the existing rooms and building 2 new guests rooms in what was a garage. We are proud of the interior architecture and special furniture finds. We always seem to choose an eclectic colourful design (you could call it Boho-chic if you like).
Surroundings: Costa Brava and the Pyrenees
The beautiful and very unspoilt coastline is within 25 minutes drive. We can tell you about our favourite places ranging from very remote and pristine to beaches with more services.
Figueres is the nearest city, has a small lively center with agreat food market and the famous Dali museum. Then the beautiful historic city of Girona, the volcanic Garrotxa with forests and many waterfalls, and Perpignan and the Southern French coast are all within 45 minutes drive. Cadaques is a spectacular coastal town on Cap de Creus, and inspiration for Picasso and Dali and Miro.
We live in the middle of nature, amidst beautiful historic villages with terraces and restaurants with French Spanish culinary delights everywhere, and every village has their own wines (DO Emporda) and olive oils.
