Healthy food
At Sharanam retreats, you’ll enjoy delicious meals that include gluten-free, dairy-free, and sugar-free options.
We promote healthy variety, local and organic ingredients, and encourage creativity and health in the kitchen.
We also recognize the importance of maintaining balance and finding joy in food.
Nutrition
At Sharanam retreats, we include breakfast, lunch, dinner, fruits, and snacks. Meals are always gluten-free, dairy-free, and sugar-free.
Doby, the chef, is a vegetarian and specializes in international cuisine. He can share a lot with you about healthy alternatives and creative cooking at home.
Fresh fruit smoothies, homemade bread, jams, hummus, and tapas are part of the daily delights.
For the good of both people and the planet, we advocate for healthy variety and the most local and organic food possible.
We love cooking, and our goal is to inspire others to eat creative and healthy meals. We hope people learn more about preparation, ingredients, and how food affects their well-being.
In general, we don’t recommend following strict diets long-term, except in cases of severe allergies. A strict diet may be helpful to test reactions to certain ingredients, but maintaining balance is essential.
Joy is also a key ingredient for health!
In the prologue to “The Gut: The Inside Story of Our Body’s Most Underrated Organ,” Giulia Enders asks herself—and all doctors—why so little is taught about nutrition and digestion, and why the heart and brain seem to be prioritized in medical education, while the gut, which is central to the systems that develop both brain and heart, is often overlooked.
Detox Juice or Light Detox
On the other hand, our juice detox method is ideal for raising food awareness and can serve as a first step toward healthy lifestyle changes.
We offer additional support with massages, yoga, and therapy to address lifestyle patterns.
We offer juice-based detox and light detox programs that can be combined with any of our retreat packages. The light detox program is a bit less intense than a full juice cleanse and includes simple, easy-to-learn recipe ideas. For many, it’s already a detox to leave behind meat, alcohol, sugar, processed foods, and heavy mental patterns. To detox, we recommend walking or swimming at least 30 minutes a day, in addition to our 90-minute daily yoga classes. On most days, a guided walk will be offered
feel free to choose between juices or a much lighter version depending on your needs.
The juice detox consists of six days (from eight total) of just juice, tea, and water. When booking in advance, you’ll receive instructions to prepare at home, for a one-week start, plus suggestions to continue for a week after the retreat.
Juice-based detox is excellent for increasing awareness and observing your emotional relationship with food. It’s also an excellent
first step toward change. So, if you want to shift unhealthy habits, this can be a powerful motivator. Juice detox itself is not intended for weight loss. You may lose about 3 kilos, but if you don’t change your relationship with food, alcohol, drugs, or medication, a juice detox is just a temporary cleanse. It’s fine, but it depends on how you choose to use it. We offer all the support you need with massages, yoga, breathwork, and coaching/therapy around your patterns.
