Frequently Asked Questions
What does an individual retreat mean at Sharanam?
Your stay is tailored specifically to you. With only three to four guests hosted at a time, each person has a private room and follows a personal program shaped around their current needs, ranging from psychological guidance, somatic therapy, and life coaching to quiet days of rest, nature time, yoga, reading, or silence.
How structured is the daily routine?
The atmosphere is flexible and non-demanding, with no fixed modules. You can choose solitude or connection as you wish—spend hours in nature, take your meal to a quiet spot, or join others at naturally social mealtimes. Sessions and activities are adapted day by day to support your intentions for being here.
How are yoga and therapeutic sessions adapted to me?
All sessions are personalized. Yoga is gentle and adjusted to your physical level and emotional or energetic needs, working with breath, movement, awareness, and tension patterns. It can complement life coaching or somatic therapy by opening relevant life themes or simply serve as a grounding daily practice.
What practical support do you offer for travel and exploring the area?
We can pick you up from Girona Airport or the train station and guide you to local options; nearby village access, cycling and coastal routes, and walking paths from the house. Catalonia landscape offers rivers, forests, and quiet places to explore. We also sometimes organize small excursions (often once or twice a week) to the sea, Girona, or nearby areas, especially for guests without a car.
Who is this retreat best suited for, and how do I know if its a good fit?
It suits anyone seeking deep therapeutic support, a restorative pause after stress, or a blend of both in a small, intimate setting. Before booking, we have a short phone conversation to align expectations. Guests coming for psychological guidance or somatic therapy can complete a brief biographical questionnaire to help focus intentions and shape the work.
What makes psychological guidance during a retreat different from weekly therapy?
A retreat offers a slower, more spacious rhythm than once‑a‑week sessions. With only a small number of guests at a time, there’s closer, more continuous contact and the chance to observe real‑life patterns—how someone rests, relates, eats, withdraws, or opens. This continuity allows personal processes to deepen naturally and integrate into daily life. After sessions, there’s room to walk, swim, read, write, cycle, or simply rest, so the nervous system can process without immediately returning to stress or screens.
Who is this kind of retreat helpful for?
Its supportive for people navigating stress or burnout (including a gentle burnout retreat), anxiety, grief, relationship difficulties, emotional exhaustion, periods of transition or transformation, recovery after illness, and healing during or after a break‑up. Couples also benefit from the time and space to notice and gently work with patterns together.
What can I expect during the retreat—how is daily life supported?
Guests stay in thoughtfully designed private rooms with private bathrooms. Alongside psychological guidance, there is nourishing food, nature, quietness, bicycles, a sauna, and swimming in the river. The pace is unhurried, with space between sessions to rest or be outdoors, helping the body and mind integrate the work rather than snapping back into busy routines.
How does this setting support couples specifically?
Instead of only talking about patterns, couples can notice them as they arise in everyday moments and gently work with them together. The spaciousness and continuity make it easier to move beyond intellectual discussion and into real‑life awareness and change.
Can the process continue before or after the stay?
Yes. Optional online sessions are available before or after the retreat to provide continuity. Even one week away from ordinary routines can catalyze meaningful change, and ongoing support helps that change take root.
