What to Expect and Prepare for a retreat ? Sharanam Retreats, Catalonia

Somatic Therapy and Life Coaching Retreat in Spain

If you’ve been searching for a somatic therapy / life coaching Spain retreat, you’ve probably come across many programs with big groups or in large centers with structured schedules and fixed modules. Many people first search online for “what is retreat” before choosing where to go.

What we offer is specifically personalized, and perhaps more honest: a retreat shaped around you, where the body and mind are listened to rather than worked on with standard sessions.

How We Begin: A Personal Conversation

When people first contact us about coming to Sharanam Retreats in Catalonia, we usually begin with a phone conversation. Speaking personally before booking helps us both feel whether the retreat is the right fit and whether expectations align with what we offer here.

At Sharanam, we usually host only three or four guests at the same time. Even though guests share the same peaceful environment and lovely healthy meals:

  • Every person has their own room/bathroom and space.
  • Every person follows their own personal retreat program, adapted to their needs and intention for being here.

Retreat Focus: Tailored to Your Moment

  • Some guests center their retreat around psychological guidance, somatic therapy, and deeper personal work.
  • Others arrive after a stressful period and simply need space to rest, reconnect with nature, breathe more deeply, and slow down.
  • Many combine both: moments of guidance alongside quiet days of walking, yoga, reading, or time in silence.

Our Approach to Yoga

Yoga sessions are always adapted to the individual, physically, emotionally, and energetically. We work gently with breathing, movement, awareness, and tension patterns in the body. For some, yoga opens meaningful life themes and softens areas of blockage, exhaustion, or emotional tension, complementing life coaching or therapeutic work. For others, it serves as a grounding, calming daily practice.

Atmosphere: Solitude and Connection

Because every retreat is personal, the atmosphere is flexible and non-demanding.

  • Solitude: Some guests come to disconnect from constant social interaction. They spend hours in nature, sit quietly in the garden with a book, listen to music, or simply enjoy being alone. If someone prefers to take their dinner plate to a quiet spot under a tree or by the river, that is completely welcome.
  • Connection: Mealtimes often become naturally social moments; sharing stories, learning from others, and enjoying cultural exchange. Many guests leave with meaningful encounters and unexpected friendships.

Practical Support and Local Exploration

We help guests feel throughout their stay.

  • Pickups from Girona Airport or the train station.
  • Guidance to nearby villages, cycling routes (including the coast), and walking paths that start right from the house.
  • Suggestions for exploring Northern Catalonia’s wild, spacious landscape—rivers for swimming, forests for walking, and quiet places to discover slowly.

Sometimes we organize small excursions, especially for guests without a car. Often once or twice a week, we may go to the sea together, visit Girona, or explore nearby areas.

For Deeper Therapeutic Work: Biographical Questionnaire

Guests who come specifically for psychological guidance, life coaching, or somatic therapy are invited to complete a brief biographical questionnaire before arrival. The questions help clarify intentions and offer a sense of where someone comes from geographically, emotionally, and personally. Some write only a few words; others share many pages. Both are completely fine.
